Key Challenge : Yaodong International Cinema is strategically located on the third floor of Shuncheng·Darong City (formerly Deshun Plaza), a prime commercial hub in the heart of Shunde, Foshan, Guangdong. The project was first conceived in 2009 but became mired in a protracted three‑year legal dispute over site leasing and operating rights, causing multiple construction interruptions and delays. It was not until 2013, when the dispute was initially resolved, that the project could finally be revived.
As a flagship cinema designed to fill the gap for a high‑end movie‑going experience in the older urban area of Daliang, Yaodong International Cinema faced a formidable challenge: it had to make a powerful market entry. The developer’s ambition was to establish the cinema with “the highest‑spec hardware among all cinemas in Shunde” — a standard that demanded exceptional quality, comfort, and durability from every seat. Compounding this challenge, the cinema featured two distinct space types:
