Key Challenge : The Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain inaugurated a new headquarters in the heart of Paris, opposite the Louvre, in a historic 1855 Haussmann-style building. Renowned architect Jean Nouvel reimagined the space as a vibrant venue open to dialogue between art, architecture, and the city. The foundation required 400 bespoke seats for its new auditorium that would harmonize with the building's architectural vision while providing exceptional comfort for exhibitions, visual arts, performances, and film events.
Solution : FLYA furniture collaborated with Jean Nouvel Design to create 400 custom-designed auditorium chairs featuring wooden structures upholstered in velvet fabric. The monochromatic character of the auditorium transforms the armchairs into essential architectural elements, becoming an integral part of the space's visual and sensory identity.
